After the establishment of the School of Medicine in 2001, the discipline of biomedical engineering was transferred to the School of Medicine, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering was established.

Tsinghua University Yuquan Hospital was originally Beijing Yuquan Hospital (402 Hospital of the Ministry of Electronics Industry). It was officially opened in December 1983. In April 2003, the hospital was transferred to Tsinghua University and renamed Tsinghua University Yuquan Hospital.
The first president of The First Hospital of Tsinghua University was Prof. Chen Mingzhe.
The first president of Tsinghua University Yuquan Hospital was Prof. Zuo Huancong.
China Medical University has been renamed Peking Union Medical College, Tsinghua University, marking the beginning of a close collaboration between Tsinghua and Peking Union Medical College.

Beijing Tsinghua Changqung Hospital (BTCH) officially opened on November 28th, 2014.
