(By Ziyu Nan)On September 21, 2019, the 2019 Annual Conference of Chinese Doctors and China Intelligence Medical Summit Forum was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. At the opening ceremony of the conference, the second "Fok Ying Tung Award for Outstanding Chinese Physicians in the World" was awarded to Professor Jiahong Dong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and executive director of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital. Former World Health Organization Director-General, Winner of the World Outstanding Chinese Physician Lifetime Achievement Award, Ms. Fengfuzhen Chen, Vice President of the 12th National Political Consultative Conference, Haifeng Li, Vice Director of the National Health Commission, Xuejun Yu, and Yanling Zhang, President of the World Association of Chinese Physicians and President of the Chinese Medical Association, jointly awarded medals to Jiahong Dong.

The World Eminent Chinese Fok Ying Tung Award is established by the Board of Directors of the World Association of Chinese Physicians, named after the outstanding Chinese leader Mr. Fok Ying Tung, and funded by the Fok Ying Tung Foundation. It is the only highest award for Chinese physicians in the world, which aims to recognize and reward outstanding representatives of Chinese physicians, encourage more Chinese physicians to make contributions to the health of people around the world, and further enhance the recognition and support of Chinese physicians in their countries and regions.

Jiahong Dong, an internationally renowned expert in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation, has been devoted to the study of modern theory and technology of hepatobiliary surgery for a long time. He put forward the new concept of "precision surgery" for the first time, created a paradigm of precision hepatobiliary surgery, established a systematic intervention strategy that emphasizes the three elements of lesion clearance, organ protection and damage control, constructed a series of key surgical techniques featuring visualization, quantification and controllability, solved the problems of positioning, quantification, structure and precision control in hepatobiliary surgery, and improved the surgical treatment of complex hepatobiliary diseases such as liver tumor, biliary tumor, hepatobiliary stones, intrahepatic biliary duct dilatation and end-stage hepatobiliary disease.
